My friends and I are doing a Greek themed lunch for Valentines day and I need costume (not togas) and decoration ideas. Pictures and websites would make a "best answer."

why not go as Aphrodite, the goddess of love? the idea can inspire your look, you dont’ have to do a literal costume translation but maybe get a wig that will give that impression or wrap some flowers into your hair.

here’s an example: http://www.miniatureart.com/images/greek1.jpg

as for decorations, i’d go with simple white and blues and not go for anything that seems too "themed" (thats tacky). white flowers with blue glass stones in the vase would be lovely.
http://deerport.com/images/blue_glass_stone_003.jpg can be found at most dollar stores and for sure at any craft store. fill the glass vases up 2" with the stones, add water and white flowers.

also use lots of white candles of different heights/shapes.

Does anyone else get really sick and tired of stores having an aisle full of Halloween decorations, then other the other side of the aisle, they’re already selling Christmas decorations? My local large retailer (rhymes with Smal Smart, lol) does this, as well as many others. They started putting them out in September. WHY do they do this?? Can’t they at least wait until Halloween is over before putting out the Christmas stuff, for God’s sake? It’s not just these holidays–it’s all of them, pretty much. They’ll have an aisle of Valentine’s Day stuff, then the next aisle over, all the Easter decorations are already up. AM I ALONE??

It is really annoying, isn’t it… I work retail (not "Smal Smart," thank goodness!) and am tired of Christmas before the leftover turkey’s even gone! But, from a store’s point of view, they have shelves that need to be full to make money. And LOTS of people start their Christmas shopping before Halloween even comes, some even have it done! Christmas clubs at banks have their checks coming out around this time too, and some stores still let consumers layaway their purchases. Some people have gifts to send overseas, and that can take a long time. So I guess if one store doesn’t push the holidays, they will loose sales to stores that do.

I really want to drape fabric along the walls at my wedding reception but how much does it cost to buy the fabric and where do you buy it? Also if any other brides are having a wedding on Valentine’s Day or have any ideas for decorations or the reception please tell me!

If you want to cover the walls, I’d suggest starting with Stump’s Prom & Party Supply and price their gossamer wall coverings… here’s a link. If you don’t like what they have maybe you’ll at least have some idea of what to search for.

Congratulations and best wishes

I’m wanting to have a Valentine’s Day wedding. I need information:
How much do you think it’s going to cost? (I want a small, traditional wedding.)
What’s the cheapest I could have it?
How much is a photographer & videographer going to cost?
Is it usually expensive for the church?
How much would a 3 tier cake be?
Do you think it’s cheaper to have a Valentine’s Day wedding? Because where it would be Valentine’s Day there would be a lot of stuff I could use as decorations for my wedding.

First of all, this is the most adorable idea ever. I say go for it! Second of all, every item you list depends upon a number of things, most notably where you live (the New York metro area, for example, will be pricier than certain areas of Delaware…etc.).

I’m going to link some articles for you on how to look for good wedding deals on various aspects. The average wedding is over $27,000…but I honestly know peole who have done an entire wedding and reception for $5,000 or less. It’s hard to know where to begin telling you to cut corners since there are so many different ways for the different aspects you list but I’ll include links to get you started.

I don’t think it would be necessarily either cheaper or more expensive to have a wedding on Valentine’s Day unless you’re booking your wed/recept. during a "prime" time (such as at a ski resort, when in February things will be going strong, etc.).

Good luck and congratulations! If you’re planning this for 2010, you have a whole year to figure it out. I’ll include a timeline too so you know when to plan what. Very very cute idea. :)

I’ve been talking to this girl for a while, and our friendship was growing so fast.. i wanted to ask her to the school’s valentine dance tonight and she told me she’s already going with someone else…I feel very wrong to be going there because i cant stand seeing the girl i actually love dancing with another guy although i cant do anything about it…the bigger problem is that i have to go there because i m helping the others with the decorations…Please help

It’s important that you find a fairly attractive and well liked girl to attend this valentine’s dance with so that the girl you have a crush on gets a certain impression of you. Worse case scenario, you wind up liking the girl you took to the dance more than the one you have a crush on. Just be attentive to your date the entire evening, bring her a corsage to wear, make sure you continue to refill her punch glass, and be an all around nice guy at the party. You may have fun! This will be a test of your character.

I am making a cake for Valentines Day and I want to know what are some really delicious icings that I can use on my cake. Its going to be all chocolate I just want to decorate it with few hearts. I tried some icings from the market and it was terrible. Thanks in advance.
